Swiss SRC lead software architect
The Swiss SRC Lead Software
Architect is responsible for the implementation and operations of the Swiss SRC
software infrastructure. In close collaboration with the Swiss SRC Project
Scientist at EPFL, he or she ensures that the infrastructure supports the goal
of maximizing the scientific return of the Square Kilometer Array Observatory
(SKAO) in Switzerland. To achieve this, he or she pays particular attention to
the needs of the infrastructure stakeholders, in particular
the SKAO and SKACH partners. He or she coordinates and supports the
integration of the different software development efforts of the SKAO and its
Swiss partners, most likely with a deployment on the systems of the Swiss
National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS). The Software Architect ensures that the
Swiss SRC inspires other members of the worldwide SRC network and that their
successful developments are leveraged

Doctoral and Postdoctoral researchers in Machine
Learning for Heliophysics, in the framework of the RODEM project, rodem.ch
In
the advertised positions, you will explore the application of deep learning
models in different solar physics use cases. One example is the use of
diffusion models to provide efficient and highly discriminative classifiers for
solar flare prediction or anomaly detection. You will be part of the Institute
for Data Science, where we bring a strong background in data science and
computer science in general, and machine learning and deep learning in
particular. Within the project, you will work closely with the local team and
with other groups at national and international level. Beyond the solar physics
research projects, you could also contribute to projects in other areas covered
by the Institute or get involved in teaching.
